| Bert Habets appointed new CEO of RTL Nederland - Fons van Westerloo to join the Supervisory Board and to become advisor.
Luxembourg/Hilversum, 18 January 2008 - RTL Group, Talpa Media and RTL Nederland today announced the following changes on the management team of RTL Nederland: Bert Habets (37), currently Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the leading Dutch TV and radio group RTL Nederland, has been appointed its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 February 2008. Habets will take over from Fons van Westerloo (61) who will join the Supervisory Board of RTL Nederland and will also become advisor of RTL Group.
Gerhard Zeiler, Chief Executive of RTL Group and Chairman of the RTL Nederland Supervisory Board, said today: “RTL Group is very grateful for the outstanding achievements of Fons van Westerloo as CEO of RTL Nederland. In the past four years, he successfully turned around and restructured our Dutch TV operations. By focusing on the strong RTL brand, he has successfully developed the country’s leading family of TV channels into a highly profitable operation. I am looking forward to continuing to work together with Fons in the RTL Nederland Supervisory Board and in his capacity as advisor of the company.”
Zeiler continued: “In a fast changing media landscape, Bert Habets, who has been CFO of RTL Nederland since 2001, is the right man to guide RTL Nederland into a new phase of its development. He is excellently qualified to take on the big opportunities and challenges of the digital world, fully leveraging our strong TV, radio, diversification and internet activities in the Netherlands.”

Bert Habets (37) joined RTL Group in 1999 as Project Manager in the Business Development unit of CLT-UFA. In March 2001, he was appointed CFO of Holland Media Groep, which was rebranded into RTL Nederland in August 2004. He holds a Master of Economics and Law (fiscal) at the University of Maastricht and a MBA at the University of Barcelona.
In August 2003, Fons van Westerloo (61) was appointed CEO of RTL Group’s Dutch operations, known at the time as Holland Media Groep. Having begun his career as a newspaper journalist, Mr. van Westerloo became Head of News and Current Affairs, then General Manager of the public broadcaster AVRO. He also served as General Manager of Satellite Business TV, Managing Editor and General Manager of AT 5, and Programming Director of RTL 5. From May 1995 to September 2003, he was responsible for all Dutch broadcasting operations at SBS. |
